TenX Antioxidant Blast Supplement
Why should I take the TenX Antioxidant Blast supplement?
The human body has an extensive network of antioxidants that work synergistically to provide protection from oxidative stress. This is known as the antioxidant defense system. The antioxidant defense system consists of both intrinsic and extrinsic antioxidants. Intrinsic antioxidants are made in the body, often from nutrients we obtain from our diet. The antioxidant enzymes (SOD, glutathione peroxidase, catalase, etc.), L-glutathione, and Coenzyme Q10 are important examples.
Extrinsic antioxidants cannot be manufactured by our body and must be obtained from our diet. Examples of extrinsic antioxidants include vitamins E and C, alpha-lipoic acid, carotenoids, and flavonoids. To promote optimal antioxidant protection, USANA has developed several important nutritionals, including TenX Antioxidant Blast.
Does TenX Antioxidant Blast contain any preservatives or color additives?
No, TenX does not have any color additives or preservatives. The color of TenX is caused by the bar's natural ingredients.
Is TenX Antioxidant Blast considered a dietary supplement or a food?
TenX is labeled as a dietary supplement, not as a snack bar.
Is TenX Antioxidant Blast a replacement for the Essentials or HealthPak 100?
No. TenX is only designed for use as an Optimizer, and is not an appropriate replacement for any of the Essentials.
Can I take TenX Antioxidant Blast while I am pregnant or breast-feeding?
Pregnant women have particular nutritional needs that can only be assessed by a physician or other health care provider. While many USANA Optimizers may be appropriate during pregnancy (for example, Active Calcium and BiOmega), others may not be appropriate.
During pregnancy, it is always best to seek the advice of a physician before using any nutritional supplements.
What are the recommended age ranges for TenX Antioxidant Blast? Can I give one to my child?
TenX is an antioxidant Optimizer, not a snack bar. Like most of USANA's Optimizers, this product was formulated primarily for adults ages 18 and older. We do not recommend giving it to children.
It is important to realize that children have different nutritional needs from adults, and their portion sizes are generally much smaller than the portion sizes for a typical adult. For example: you would not expect a 5-year old child to consume two apples during a snack or a mealtime, yet one TenX bar contains two full servings of fruit. In addition, each TenX bar provides 450 mg of vitamin C, while one Usanimals tablet provides just 125 mg of vitamin C. 450 mg of vitamin C may simply be too much for a child to tolerate at one time, and could potentially cause gastrointestinal upset.
