What is OptOmega?
OptOmega is an all-natural vegetarian product produced from a unique blend of certified organic, unrefined cold-pressed flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and extra-virgin olive oils. When added to a typical diet, OptOmega delivers essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to the body in optimal ratios.
OptOmega also utilizes extra-virgin olive oil, E-Prime (tocopherols and tocotrienols), turmeric, and rosemary for superior antioxidant protection. The oils in OptOmega provide a broad spectrum of health benefits, including cardiovascular support, immune system support, and nutrients for healthy skin.
What are the differences between OptOmega and BiOmega?
OptOmega (derived from plants) provides the essential fatty acids - alpha-linolenic (omega-3) and linoleic (omega-6). From these fats, all other fats (such as EPA, DHA, and GLA) are derived. The percentage of each that a person obtains is dependent on the chemistry of the individual.
For those desiring a more concentrated amount of EPA or DHA, we suggest taking BiOmega (derived from fish). Some choose BiOmega because it contains a higher concentration of EPA and DHA and has more therapeutic uses. Others choose OptOmega because it contains not only omega-3 fatty acids, but also contains omega-6 as well.
In other words, BiOmega and OptOmega don't necessarily provide the same kinds of fat.
In addition, the manufacturing of these two products is different due to the nature of the sources (plants vs. fish). The delivery systems are also different. While BiOmega is encapsulated, OptOmega is in the form of oil that can be added to salad dressings, shakes, etc.
